Adding Pensioners onto the Indue Card
Those for this policy agree that
NOTE: There are currently no divisions supporting this policy. The Social Security (Administration) Amendment (Continuation of Cashless Welfare) Bill 2020 specifically did not include age pensioners. While some have pointed to provision 61 of this bill, it appears that that provision is an amendment to the definition of "restrictive payments" and does not seem to affect the definition of who is actually a program participant - that is, if a person is already a program participant due to sections 124PGD and 124PGE of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999, and they or their partner is also on the age pension, that age pension now seems to be included as a restrictive payment under this bill. If a person is only an age pension recipient, and doesn't receive any of the payments referred to in sections 124PGD and 124PGE of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999, this provision does not seem to affect them. If you believe our reading of this bill's provisions is wrong, please let us know.
