<p class="speaker">Malarndirri McCarthy</p><p>I move the second reading amendment in my name on sheet 8748:</p><p class="italic">At the end of the motion, add:</p>- The majority voted against a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2019-11-13.194.1) introduced by NT Senator [Malarndirri McCarthy](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/nt/malarndirri_mccarthy) (Labor) that would have amended the usual [second reading motion](https://www.peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/bills-and-laws/making-a-law-in-the-australian-parliament/) "*that the bill be read a second time*", which is parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill.
