Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Bill 2022 - Second Reading - Small business
Passed by a small majority
No rebellions 90% attendance
Division last edited 16th Nov 2022 by mackay staff
The majority voted in favour of disagreeing with amendments introduced by Wentworth MP Allegra Spender (Independent), which means they failed.
Ms Spender explained that:
My amendments ... will make this bill more workable for businesses, particularly small businesses, who have had an incredibly tough time in recent years. It will make it more workable for workers, who desperately need a pay rise to cope with the rising cost of living.
Many of the concerns of this bill can be undone with one simple amendment: let businesses consent to multi-party bargains in the single interest stream.
Nobody rebelled against their party.
