Title
Motions — Covid-19: Aged Care
- Motions - Covid-19: Aged Care - Don't let another vote take place
Description

Tony Smith

The question now is that the motion moved by the member for Franklin be disagreed to.

-
- The majority voted in favour of *disagreeing* with a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2020-09-02.141.2) introduced by Franklin MP [Julie Collins](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/franklin/julie_collins) (Labor), which means it failed. The motion was to suspend the usual procedural rules - known as [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) - so that another vote could take place. Since it failed, that second vote won't happen.
- ### Motion text

- >> *(b) the Prime Minister has previously said comments like this are "amoral" and "hideous";*
- >>
- >> *(c) the Minister for Aged Care and Senior Australians was willing to condemn Mr Abbott's comments, but given the opportunity, the Prime Minister refused;*
- >>
- >> *(d) the Prime Minister's moral standards do not seem to extend to former Liberal Prime Ministers; and*
- >>
- >> *(e) comments like Mr Abbott's must be condemned in the strongest possible terms; and*
