<p>At the request of Senator Cash, I move:</p>

- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2023-10-17.217.2) introduced by West Australian Senator [Matt O'Sullivan](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/wa/matt_o'sullivan) (Liberal), which means it passed.

- > *That the Senate—*
- >
- > *(a) notes that the Minister representing the Attorney-General has not complied with order for the production of documents no. 324 agreed by the Senate on 11 September 2023;*
- >
- > *(b) notes that the response to the order, that 'there are no documents that contain all of the information specified in the order', is not a valid reason to deny information of concern to the Senate;*
- >
- > *(c) notes that Odgers' Australian Senate Practice states that 'orders for the production of documents may require the production of documents in the possession of a person or body, or the creation and production of documents by the person or body having the information to compile the documents'; and*
- >
- > *(d) requires that the Minister representing the Attorney-General comply fully with the order by 3 November 2023.*
<p class="italic">That the Senate—</p>
<p class="italic">(a) notes that the Minister representing the Attorney-General has not complied with order for the production of documents no. 324 agreed by the Senate on 11 September 2023;</p>
<p class="italic">(b) notes that the response to the order, that 'there are no documents that contain all of the information specified in the order', is not a valid reason to deny information of concern to the Senate;</p>
<p class="italic">(c) notes that <i>Odgers' Australian Senate Practice </i>states that 'orders for the production of documents may require the production of documents in the possession of a person or body, or the creation and production of documents by the person or body having the information to compile the documents'; and</p>
