Bills — Family Assistance Legislation Amendment (Child Care Subsidy) Bill 2021; Second Reading
- Family Assistance Legislation Amendment (Child Care Subsidy) Bill 2021 - Second Reading - Climate change
Description

Larissa Waters

I now move the second reading amendment standing in my name, on sheet 1384, which pertains to the fact that we are in a climate crisis and our kids need us to deal with that properly:

At the end of the motion, add ", and the Senate calls on the Government to acknowledge that:

- The majority voted against an [amendment](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2021-08-12.21.1) to the usual [second reading](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/bills-and-laws/making-a-law-in-the-australian-parliament/) motion "*that the bill be read for a second time*," which is parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill. This means that the amendment failed.
- ### Motion text
- > *At the end of the motion, add ", and the Senate calls on the Government to acknowledge that:*
