Title
Motions — Climate Change
- Motions - Climate Change - Let a vote happen
Description

Scott Ryan

The question is that the motion to suspend standing orders moved by Senator Wong be agreed to.

- The majority voted against a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2021-08-10.4.2) that:
- > *That so much of the [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) be suspended as would prevent Senator Wong moving a motion to provide for the consideration of a matter, namely a motion to provide that a motion relating to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change may be moved immediately and have precedence over all other business until determined.*
- In other words, they voted against suspending the usual procedural rules - known as standing orders - to let another vote happen.
