Description

  • <p class='motion-notice motion-notice-truncated'>Long debate text truncated.</p>
  • The majority voted in favour of an [amendment](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2021-06-24.3.2) to the usual [second reading](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/bills-and-laws/making-a-law-in-the-australian-parliament/) motion *"that the bill be read a second time"* (parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill). This amendment was introduced by Queensland Senator [Murray Watt](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/queensland/murray_watt) (Labor). It doesn't make any legal changes, but can be politically influential as it represents the will of the Senate.
