The majority voted in favour of a motion introduced by Queensland Senator Pauline Hanson (One Nation), which means it passed. Motions like these don't have any legal force by themselves, but can be politically influential because they represent the will of the Senate.

That the Senate calls on the Federal Government to reject critical race theory from the national curriculum.

A note on this motion

Despite what was said during the debate on this motion, Critical Race Theory is not a statement that "white people = bad." It is a theoretical approach to examining our society and our history. There is no single version of CRT, just as there is no single version of any theory in the social sciences. Instead, there are several people who could be described as critical race theorists, who have offered their own views and approaches. Some of these have become influential amongst social scientists and some of them have been criticised.
