- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2021-02-25.46.6) introduced by Tasmanian Senator [Jonathon Duniam](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/tasmania/jonathon_duniam) (Liberal) on behalf of Northern Territory Senator [Sam McMahon](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/nt/sam_mcmahon) (Country Liberal Party), which means it passed. Motions like these don't make any legal changes on their own, but they are politically influential as they represent the will of the Senate.
