- Documents - Aboriginal Deaths in Custody - Let a vote happen
Description

Malcolm Roberts

I ask that general business notice of motion No. 669, relating to Indigenous deaths in custody, be taken as a formal motion.

Scott Ryan

- The majority voted against suspending the usual procedural rules - known as [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) - to let a vote happen.
- ### Motion text
- > *That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent the motion being moved immediately and determined without amendment or debate.*

Malcolm Roberts

Pursuant to the contingent notice standing in the name of Senator Hanson, I move:

That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent the motion being moved immediately and determined without amendment or debate.

Scott Ryan

The question is that the motion to suspend standing orders be agreed to.
