• Motions Morrison Government: Ministerial Standards
 • Motions - Morrison Government - Ministerial Standards

Description

 •
Scott Ryan

 •
On Thursday afternoon after 4.30 pm a division was called for on a motion moved by Senator Ayres at the request of Senator Gallagher relating to ministerial standards. I understand that it now suits the convenience of the Senate for that division to be held. The question is that the motion moved by Senator Ayres last Thursday be agreed to.

 • The majority voted in favour of a motion introduced by NSW Senator [Tim Ayres](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/nsw/tim_ayres) (Labor) and ACT Senator [Katy Gallagher](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/act/katy_gallagher) (Labor). It criticised the Morrison Government in terms of its adherence to ministerial standards. While motions like these don't make any legal changes on their own, they are politically influential because they represent the will of the Senate.
