The majority voted in favour of an amendment introduced by Tasmanian Senator Carol Brown (Labor), which means it will now be included in the bill.
Senator Brown explained that:
The amendment prescribes that the review report should be tabled in the parliament and made public. It says that the minister must cause a copy of the report be tabled in each house of parliament within 15 sitting days of that house after its receipt by the minister and that the minister must cause a copy of the report to be published on the internet within 30 days after its receipt by the minister.
(12) Clause 53, page 28 (after line 13), at the end of the clause, add:
(4) The Minister must cause a copy of the report to be tabled in each House of Parliament within 15 sitting days of that House after its receipt by the Minister.
(5) The Minister must cause a copy of the report to be published on the internet within 30 days after its receipt by the Minister.
Nobody rebelled against their party.
