Title
Motions — Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme
- Motions - Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme - Accept findings
Description

Milton Dick

The question is that the motion be agreed to.

-
- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2023-08-10.17.2) introduced by Maribyrnong MP [Bill Shorten](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/maribyrnong/bill_shorten) (Labor), which means it passed. Motion like these don't make any changes to the law but can be politically influential because they represent the will of the House.
- **NOTE**: *At the time this entry was edited, MP [Cameron Caldwell](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/fadden/cameron_caldwell) was showing up as a rebel voter, but this is an error (see the original [Hansard record](https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;adv=yes;orderBy=_fragment_number,doc_date-rev;page=0;query=Dataset%3Ahansardr,hansardr80%20Date%3A10%2F8%2F2023;rec=0;resCount=Default), which shows Mr Caldwell voting with the rest of his party).*
- ### Original motion text
- > *That this House:*
- >
- > *(1) accepts the findings of the report of the Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme regarding the former ministers involved in the design and implementation of the scheme;*
- >

- >
- > *(3) commits to ensuring this cruel, unlawful chapter in the history of Australian public administration is never repeated.*
