  • The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2023-05-31.10.1) to pass the bill in the House of Representatives. In other words, they voted to read it for a third time. The bill will now be sent to the Senate where our senators will vote on it.
  • The Liberal Party and Liberal National Party were split on this bill, with MPs voting both ways.
  • ### What does this bill do?
  • Note that this bill does not create the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice (known as 'the Voice') and nor does it amend the Constitution at all. Instead, it allows the Government to put these matters to the Australian people through a referendum.
