Title
Motions — Climate Change
- Motions - Climate Change - Don't let a vote happen
Description

Tony Smith

The question now is that the motion moved by the Leader of the Opposition be disagreed to.

-
- The majority voted in favour of *disagreeing* with a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2021-10-25.113.2) introduced by Grayndler MP [Anthony Albanese](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/grayndler/anthony_albanese) (Labor), which means the motion failed. The motion was to suspend the usual procedural rules of parliament - known as [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) - in order to let another vote happen.
- ### Motion text
- > *That so much as standing orders be suspended as would prevent the Leader of the Opposition moving the following motion immediately—*
- >
- > *That the House of Representatives supports a legislated target of net zero emissions by 2050.*
