Title
Motions — Automotive Industry
- Motions - Automotive Industry - Do not suspend the usual procedural orders
Description

Tony Smith

The question now is that the motion moved by the member for Kennedy be disagreed to.

- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2020-06-18.3.2) to *disagree* with the motion introduced by Kennedy MP [Bob Katter](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/kennedy/bob_katter), which means the motion wasn't passed and was unsuccessful.
- ### Motion text
- > *That so much of the [standing orders](https://www.peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) be suspended as would prevent the Member for Kennedy from moving the following motion:*
- >
- > *That the House:*
- >
- > *(1) notes that:*
- >
- >> *(a) on the 17th February 2020 General Motors announced the retirement of the Holden Brand in Australia; and*
- >>
- >> *(b) the Government's free trade agreements have destroyed our Australian manufacturing industry;*
- >
- > *(2) acknowledges that the Government must build our way out of a COVID-19 economic depression with 'make money' projects; and*
- >
- > *(3) calls on the Government to:*
- >
- >> *(a) support the reestablishment of an Australian car manufacturing industry with a majority Australian shareholding; and*
- >>
- >> *(b) put relevant policies in place to ensure that all cars purchased by the Federal Government are made in Australia.*
