<p class="speaker">Tony Smith</p><p>Is leave granted for the third reading to be moved immediately?</p><p>Leave not granted.</p>- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2019-11-27.34.1):
- > *That so much of the [standing orders](https://www.peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) be suspended as would prevent the motion for the [third reading](https://www.peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/bills-and-laws/making-a-law-in-the-australian-parliament/) being moved without delay.*
- In other words, they voted to suspend the usual procedural rules to speed things along.
